Not all of them have an experience of working with a designer, but even if they do, the content and sequence of the design supervision-related work may vary from studio to studio. This is the reason why we have decided to provide a detailed outline of all the work that we provide as part of the designer supervision.

Designer Supervision is a package of work aimed at ensuring that the interior design project is implemented to the letter. Every project is unique, therefore, construction operations may require to be fulfilled in a definite sequence, or their implementation may be fraught with certain difficulties or subtleties. Normally, designer supervision includes the following kinds of operations.

Site Inspections

Designer supervision includes regular site inspections. Our task is to draw attention to key points of each work stage and to implement controls so as to ensure that all the operations are being fulfilled in line with the project, as even minor discrepancies may cause serious problems at subsequent stages.

Remote Supervision

A lot of issues may arise throughout the repair period which may require prompt resolution. We will remotely supervise the project implementation at all construction stages.

Third-Party Contractors’ Work Coordination

We take on all the difficulties related with communicating with third-party contractors (air ventilation specialists, door installation specialists, etc.). Coordination of their work will make it possible to avoid any possible mistakes in the work implementation and to timely switch from one kind of work to another; it also facilitates the achievement of a high-quality result.

Changes to the Design

There may be situations in the course of repair operations in which changes might be needed to be promptly made to the design. A new electric device may appear and lead to changes in the electrical part, or tile dimensions may change. Sometimes, new circumstances may lead to even more substantial changes.

Everything is inter-related in the interior design project. If any changes arise, they need to be taken into consideration at later stages. We will make amendments to the design documentation, provide information to the builders or contractors and monitor the result.

Samples and Paint Swatches Approval

The conformity of the colors and materials will strongly influence the result. In the framework of the designer supervision we will approve all paint swatches and samples. We will also ensure that all the interior items seamlessly match each other in color and texture.

Designer supervision does not include preparation of paint swatches and samples of finishing materials for approval by the customer. This kind of work falls within the site completion stage.

What is Design Supervision for?

A nice interior design project does not in itself guarantee a high-quality result, even if it contains exhaustive information on all designer solutions. Unexpected issues, minor inconsistencies and variations are inevitable during construction, and, in the absence of due care, may lead to disappointing results.

The project designer always knows the project better than even the most scrupulous construction supervisor; he or she may notice even seemingly minor discrepancies and make the necessary changes without changing the general concept. The main objective of design supervision is to make sure that the result is at all times up to the customer’s expectations.

Designer Supervision doesn`t include:

Monitoring the compliance with the quality of construction.

Any liability for the contractors not being in compliance with the contract, or for the quality of the services provided by them

Approving the project documentation and obtaining permits from competent authorities

Acceptance, checking the quality and quantity of materials, furniture, etc.

Liability for storing materials, furniture, textile, etc.

Transfer of monetary funds on behalf of the customer to third parties, i.e., making any payments

Selecting and purchasing materials, furniture, etc., including samples and paint swatches
